Question: I am curious, why do you call this effort Redeeming Darwin? What exactly about Darwin are you attempting to redeem?

Answer: Redeeming Darwin is a part of our Redeeming the Culture series of studies. In this series, we take topics that are counter to and/or hostile to Christianity and educate Christians on how to use these topics defend their faith and to share the gospel. By equipping Christians to use a “negative” topic as a bridge to share the gospel, we are in a sense redeeming that topic. So the title does not infer that we are in some way redeeming the person of Darwin, but rather using the topic of Darwinism as a tool to accomplish a redemptive purpose.

Question: How do I use Redeeming Darwin for a group study?

Answer:
Step 1: Understand the tremendous opportunity the Intelligent Design vs. evolution controversy presents for strengthening the faith of your group and engaging non-Christians in meaningful discussions about Jesus. Make a commitment not to let this opportunity pass by because you are unprepared. Determine the best strategy for equipping everyone in your church or organization to respond to this equipping and outreach opportunity. Select your preferred venue: small group study or large group seminar.

  • Small group study: The tool kit is ideal as a small group curriculum. The facilitator’s guide provides everything needed for a person with little or no knowledge of intelligent design or evolutionary theory to lead a stimulating study with group discussion. The Reference Guide to Redeeming Darwin is an excellent resource the facilitator can use to answer questions not directly addressed in the DVD.

  • Large group seminar: In a large group setting, each DVD can be played through continuously with each participant following along in their student guide. If desired, the DVD can be paused at the end of each small group session for questions. The leader may wish to break up the audience into smaller groups to review the discussion questions in the Facilitators Guide. If a seminar setting with questions would work best for your church or organization, the leader may want read some of the suggested resources prior to holding the seminar. Or, contact Probe Ministries to arrange a speaker for your group.

Step 2: Select the small group products you need.

  • If you will have fewer than 3 simultaneous small groups, purchase one leader’s kit for each small group. Of course, it is possible to share leader’s kits for groups that meet at different times.

  • If you have 3 or more simultaneous small groups, contact us about purchasing a site license. This site license will give you a discount on the materials and allow you to create more copies of the DVDs for use by your small group facilitators.

Step 3: Review the description of the available outreach products (i.e. Discovering the Designer DVD, Redeeming Darwin Reference Guide, Who is God? Tract) and select the ones that fit the needs of your church or small group.

Step 4: Select the quantity of each outreach product you want to purchase in bulk for your members.

Step 5: Purchase the selected quantities from the shopping page.

Question: Can I use Redeeming Darwin for my personal study?
